There are several different types of brake pipe materials available for the classic Mini. Copper brake pipe, steel or cupronickle. Steel was used in original manufacture of the classic Mini from 1959 to 2000 and this has a limited life because of problems with corrosion. 3/16 inch is the outside diameter for all brake pipes used on the classic Mini. An option of 22 and 20 guage is the wall thickness for copper pipe, 20 being the thicker wall, both of these different sizes of copper brake pipe have a 3/16 inch outside diameter. Many people use copper pipe because it is softer and easier to bend and does not corrode like the original steel pipe but the cupronickle brake pipe is the best because it is more durable, can be bent but is more rigid than copper brake pipe and it is also non corrosive. These different types of brake pipe materials are sold on a roll length which can be cut to size and they are specifically for Mini mechanics who would like to make up their own brake pipes.
We can also supply the brake pipe unions which are suitable for making up brake pipes for the classic Mini and there are two to choose from that are 3/8 UNF size and cover most of the brake pipe unions used on the car. These are the male brake pipe union and the female brake pipe union.
The dual circuit brake master cylinder uses 2 different metric size male brake pipe unions. These are the 10 mm metric male brake pipe union and the 12mm metric male brake pipe union.
