Do you think you are Too Tall or Long In The Leg to fit into a Mini? Don’t despair this will help
There are basically three ways to combat this situation all simple and not expensive.
The first thing to consider is the position of the seat. Even if in its furthest back position there is still not enough room for your legs you can fit seat adjusting brackets which will give you a good thee inches extra leg room. They also have the added bonus of multiple holes on different levels that allow you the option of not only gaining more leg room but will also change the rake of the seat as well giving several options at three different heights. They are inexpensive at just a few quid and easy and quick to fit in less than half an hour.
The second consideration after adjusting your seat is to think about the position of the steering wheel. You will need to bring it closer to you. To achieve this there are two things you can do. You can fit a steering column adjuster or lowering bracket. This as mentioned not only lowers the steering wheel but has the effect of bringing it closer to you as well. It also ends up at a better angle in front of you.
The third thing is the size of the steering wheel. A smaller steering wheel will give you more room between it and your knees after the lowering bracket has been fitted. This will also give a quicker and more direct control of the steering. They normally have a deeper dish than the standard so will also bring it closer to you.
There are several sizes and styles to choose from and these can be found in the steering category. The standard Mini normally comes with a 14 inch steering wheel. You can change this for a 13 inch steering wheel or a 12 inch steering wheel. There is also a 10 inch version available but I have never considered these to be a safe size to use and so we do not supply them.
