Fitting Sports Coils to Ballast Ignition Systems



To fit this Sports Coil to Minis from 1984 which have ballast ignition systems it is required to perform a simple modification to the wiring leading to the coil. This involves the simple task of replacing the resistor wire to the coil. There are two wires joined together by the terminal attached to the positive side of the coil coloured white/pink and white/yellow.
You need to disconnect them from the coil and with the use of tape insulate them. Next you need to connect a wire from the top left terminal of the 4 fuse box, where there is a large white cable, to the positive side of the coil. This is live when the ignition is switched to on.
