Choosing which classic Mini Rear Wheel Cylinder you require for your Braking System
There
are at least six different specifications of classic Mini rear wheel
cylinders to choose from and this can become confusing. The difference
between the specification of rear wheel cylinders available for the
classic Mini and offered in our range is the piston or bore diameter, no
more than that.
Using wheel cylinders of a different bore size will alter the braking efficientcy.
Each Mini wheel cylinder in the range will fit all models of the classic Mini so you need to make sure that you order the correct bore size. If you are replacing your old ones and still have them it is easy. All you need to do is measure the bore of the old wheel cylinder and choose one the same size.
The size of the bore of each Mini wheel cylinder in our range is given in the Item information with each product listing. If you do not have your old wheel cylinders you will need to look at the information in the product listings and as there are six different ones to choose from it is a good idea to start with the most commonly used classic Mini wheel cylinder. As these are in alphabetical order you will find the wheel cylinders at the bottom of the page. The application information in the product listings will relate each Mini wheel cylinder to either the year of Mini or the model. This will be the original Austin, Morris, BMC, British Leyland or Rover factory specification for a particular year or model. Be aware that although you may know the year and model of your Mini a previous owner may have changed the specification of the braking system and fitted different wheel cylinders. With this in mind you obviously have to be careful and you will need to relate back to what I have previously mentioned about measuring the bore of your old wheel cylinders in order to acertain the correct size for the present setup.
